SAT 20th JULY WARSASH
I normally enjoy writing the match report and reflecting on the previous day’s fishing but this is the exception to the rule. 🙈Warsash has been good to us in recent years with lumpy bags of predominately Smuts, so hopes were high. Unfortunately, 13 members endured a soul destroying evening of weed hauling. A few packed up early which was perfectly understandable as had it not been a match I think all of us would have been long gone before the end.
Finding a fish was difficult with the Smuts that did show being tiny and a few undersize schoolies. Well done to Lewis Milam finding a Gilthead Bream at 0.680 kg for 1st place and potentially a new shore club record. Rich Bird had his best ever placing in 2nd place with a Silver Eel of 0.071 kg. And that was it!
Lew won £29 for 1st place and heaviest fish. Rich took £13 for 2nd place. 3rd & 4th place winnings were raffled and won by Gavin Priday £10 & Anthony James £8. Golden fish being a Bass also raffled and won by Adey Groves £13. Just a reminder that if we have to raffle unwon prizes they can only be paid out to those still in attendance.
Lew and Rich will compete at the next match for the 2nd Knockout trophy.

27th April Gilkicker – Hasler
15 amphibious members turned up for last nights match at Gilkicker, a great effort in that weather. Plenty of fish were caught with only 2 members, who were fishing next to me, not recording fish due to bad luck with losing rigs and having to pack up early. As everyone was tired and wet and wanted to get home the winners will be paid at the next match.
A total of 161 sizeable fish were recorded being 118 Dogfish, 37 Pout, 2 Whiting, 2 Smuts, 1 Dab & 1 Thornback Ray. Heaviest Fish was a Smut of 2.041kg for Daniel Panter. No sizeable Congers were caught so the Golden Fish was raffled and won by Jack Haynes.

25th February Solent rover
It was disappointing that the weather meant we had to fish a Solent Rover instead of Brighton but thanks to the 14 members who fished today. It was always going to be a hard match in daylight this time of year and but 6 members managed to record sizeable fish. In total 56 were caught being, 36 Pout, 15 Dogs, 4 Whiting & 1 Bass.
Gavin Priday had a late flurry of Dogfish to win with 7 Dogs for 4.138kg. Lewis Milam trawled out 31 fish, more than the rest of us put together, for 2nd place with 3.774kg. 27th January Streamer point
1st shore match last night at Steamer Point and good to see some new faces and some old, welcome all. 21 members fished with 20 recording a total of 128 sizeable fish being 81 Pout, 29 Rockling, 12 Whiting, 3 Dogfish, 2 Plaice & 1 Small Eyed Ray. The weather was kind and conditions were good.
Lewis Milam started the defence of his title in a sloppy manner just managing a mere 36 fish being 21 Pout, 12 Rockling & 3 Whiting for 3.204kg. Seriously though it was the largest winning margin by number of fish I can ever remember, brilliant fishing – just don’t do it again.😁 The best of the rest was Jon Purdie with a nice mixed bag of 5 Pout, 1 Plaice, 1 Rockling & 1 Dog for 1.926kg, well done and good start on the species. Third was Rob Cooke with 8 Pout, 1 Whiting & 1 Dog for 1.685kg. Dean Scott-denness came 4th with 4 Pout, 1 Rockling and the nights heaviest fish a 1.106kg Small Eyed Ray for a total of 1.609kg. Stephen Paul Tyers joined us from the boat section and showed he can do it from the shore as well with 5th place being 4 Whiting, 2 Pout & 2 Rockling for 1.233kg. Steve also winning the Golden Fish with a 0.106kg Rockling.
